OBERTAUERN – WHERE SNOW FEELS AT HOME! High up inObertauernwinter starts aroundNovember 25th and lasts right through to the beginning of May. Fun on the slopes can be had for some 160 days every year because of our location at 1,740metres, or 5,709 feet, above sea level, ski lifts and runs extending up to 2,526 metres (8,288 ft.), aswell as the area’s geographical characteristics and state-of-the-art snowmaking machines. One hundred kilometres, or over sixty miles, of downhill slopes – 60 kilometres easy, 36 km. medium, 4 km. difficult – as well as twentysix cable cars and lifts make Obertauern a skier’s paradise right at the Hotel Montana’s front door. Our ski circuit has been designed to allow you to ski the Tauern Round either clock wise or counterclockwise. Gamsleiten II is one of Europe’s steepest ski runs and a challenge even for very skilled skiers. The après ski scene is definitely part of the Obertauern skiing experience. And it’s great to be able to ski straight down to the hotel from the Edelweiss chalet after après ski fun.
